Professional Packing Services Across Scotland
Packing is the part of moving that most people underestimate. It takes longer than expected, uses more boxes than planned, and one wrong wrap around a fragile item can cause a breakage that no amount of bubble wrap fixes after the fact.
HJG Removals provides a professional packing service for house moves, office relocations, and single-room jobs across Renfrewshire, Glasgow, and the wider West of Scotland. We are based in Johnstone and regularly pack for customers in Paisley, Glasgow, and the surrounding area. Our team brings the materials, does the work, and makes sure everything arrives at the other end in the same condition it left.
Full Packing Service
A full packing service means our team handles everything. We arrive on the day agreed, work through the property room by room, and pack all of your belongings ready for loading.
Everything is labelled by room and contents. Fragile items are wrapped individually. Boxes are packed to the right weight so they are safe to carry and stack. Nothing is rushed.
This option suits customers who are short on time, have a large property, or simply do not want to spend their evenings filling boxes for a month before moving day.
Fragile Item Packing
Fragile packing is a specialist service. Items like glassware, crockery, mirrors, artwork, and ornaments need wrapping that actually protects them, not just a layer of newspaper stuffed into a box.
We use proper packing paper, bubble wrap, dish-pack boxes, and cell dividers for glassware. Each item is wrapped, placed with care, and packed with sufficient padding around it so it cannot shift in transit.
If you have antiques, large mirrors, framed artwork, or anything particularly valuable, let us know when you book so we can bring the right materials and give those items the attention they need.
Part Packing
Not every customer needs a full pack. Part packing lets you do what you can manage yourself and hand the rest over to us.
Common requests include:
- Kitchen packing only (the room most people leave too late)
- Fragile items and glassware throughout the property
- Loft, garage, or storage space contents
- A specific room or floor that needs professional handling
Part packing is priced based on what needs doing. Tell us at the quote stage what you want to cover yourself and what you want us to handle.
Packing for House Moves
Most of our packing work is carried out as part of a house move. If you are booking HJG Removals for your house move, you can add packing to the same booking.
We will typically pack the day before the move or on move morning, depending on the size of the property and the access situation at the new address. This keeps everything coordinated so packing, loading, and delivery all run as one job rather than three separate headaches.
Packing for Office Moves
Office packing requires a different approach to domestic packing. Equipment has to be labelled for the right desk or department. Files need to stay in order. Monitors, printers, and IT equipment need specific wrapping.
Our team works around your schedule. If the office needs to be packed outside of business hours to minimise disruption, we can accommodate that. We work alongside our commercial removals service so packing and the move itself are handled by the same crew.
Packing Materials
We bring everything needed for the job. You do not need to source boxes, tape, or wrapping paper separately.
Standard materials we carry:
- Double-walled cardboard boxes in small, medium, and large sizes
- Dish-pack boxes for kitchen and glassware
- Packing paper and bubble wrap
- Foam wrapping sheets for larger fragile items
- Wardrobe boxes with hanging rails for clothing
- Strong parcel tape and markers for labelling
If you have specialist items in storage that also need packing, we can factor that into the quote. Our storage facility in Johnstone holds items for customers in between moves, and we can pack for storage as part of the same job.
What Happens on Packing Day
So you know what to expect:
- Our team arrives at the agreed time with all materials loaded
- We walk through the property with you to confirm what is being packed and note any fragile or priority items
- We work room by room, wrapping, boxing, and labelling as we go
- Boxes are stacked safely in a staging area, ready for loading
- At the end, we do a walkthrough with you to confirm nothing has been missed
- If packing and removal are on the same day, loading begins as soon as packing is complete

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to be present while you pack?
You do not need to be there throughout, but we ask that someone is available at the start for the walkthrough and at the end to confirm everything is done. Most customers stay nearby and check in as needed.
How long does packing take?
A typical two-bedroom flat takes around three to four hours for a full pack. A larger four-bedroom house can take a full day, sometimes more if there is a loft or garage involved. We give a time estimate when you book based on what you have told us about the property.
Can I pack some things myself and leave the rest to you?
Yes. Part packing is one of our most common requests. Just let us know at the quote stage which areas or items you want us to handle.
Do you pack the contents of a loft or garage?
Yes, we do. These areas often have more in them than people expect, so it is worth flagging them at the quote stage so we can allow enough time and bring the right box sizes.
What happens if something gets damaged?
We take care in how we pack. If something is damaged as a result of our packing, we deal with it properly. We are fully insured, and any genuine issue is handled without argument.
